NEMT ambulance rides can sometimes be covered by insurance. Non-emergency medical transportation is accepted by Metro One, with some limitations. We work with a variety of private insurance providers including Aetna, Humana, Kaiser Permanente, United Health, and Medicare, just to name a few.

STEP 1

Verify NEMT Insurance Coverage
Before scheduling NEMT Ambulance (Non-Emergency Medical Transportation) with our customer service team, please confirm that your insurance will cover the trip. Most insurance providers offer online resources for their members to check coverage details. Be sure to verify that NEMT is included in your plan. STEP 2

Information Gathering
Once you determine your eligibility, and before scheduling your ride, please have the following information ready for our team:
- Patient’s Full Name, Date of Birth, SSN/Insurance Provider and Insurance ID#, and Weight (For Logistical Purposes).
- The Pickup Address where we will be picking you up for your ride. Include the facility name, room number, and point of contact, if any
- The Destination Name & Address, as well as a Telephone Number for confirmation of your appointment
- The Date & Time of your medical appointment.
- The Nature of the Trip, including if it will be BLS (Basic Life Support), ALS (Advanced Life Support), Wheelchair, as well as if if will be a Wait & Return trip, Discharge, Doctor’s Appointment, Medical Procedure, Follow-Up Appointment, Dialysis, or any other information that you think is relevant to our dispatch team.
- Will you need an escort? If so, we will need their name and phone number.
- Will oxygen be needed during transport? If so, how many liters per minute? (if known).

Metro One Ambulance requires 24-48 hours advance notice to schedule your medical transportation. We will do our very best to accommodate same day calls, but we cannot guarantee that we will be able to transport you.
